I love transitional dressing because it’s a bit more of a challenge having to put together looks after the summer months where you don’t have to think about layering at all. I actually have a pretty small wardrobe and am always on the lookout for certain pieces heading into the colder months but which will also see me through to spring. That way, you aren’t shopping for just autumn or winter but both. I like to build my wardrobe around key staples like good denim, knitwear, basics, tailoring and wool-blend coats. This way you can restyle all your key pieces depending on the weather, layering as the weather gets a lot colder. Then I add some fashion pieces, like a pair of on-trend shoes or a statement bag.
Definitely a wool-blend coat; I like to opt for neutral colours as they tend to have a more high-end feel. Knee-high boots are also going to be huge this winter as well as knitwear to throw on over a slip dress for evening events and early morning commutes into London.
One of my favourite pieces is the wool-blend Crombie coat. I like that the collar has a detachable faux fur trim which I have removed for autumn and will add on for winter. The knee high boots were super comfy for walking around Florence and were actually a lifesaver for my bike ride along the river! The red suit was a little out of my comfort zone but I’m so happy I chose it. I’m a sucker for tailoring, and have so many black and neutral shades so it was nice to try something different. I styled them with chunky dad trainers to give the suit a more modern feel.
