New Season Essentials with Anneli Bush

It’s time for a wardrobe refresh. We asked style blogger Anneli Bush to pick the new season essentials she’ll be wearing now and all season long.

New Season Essentials

With winter still in full force, I’m desperately counting down the weeks to my new fresh spring wardrobe. Sartorially, it’s probably one of the most exciting times of the year; we’ve just been through months of cold weather and the readiness to embrace the new season has never been this prominent. Naturally, my wish list is already pretty long (I mean, really long) – it’s filled with classic pieces, a continuation of winter tailoring, plus softer and more feminine styles to ease me into the new season.

But finding those perfect trans‐seasonal pieces that you can so easily implement into your wardrobe is not always so straightforward. To inspire your wardrobe choices, I’ve put together three very different (but all together fabulous) new season essentials that you just have to have in your life right now…

The Tailored Trousers

Peg trousers

Lacey Victoriana Blouse, £59 | Thelma Utility Peg Leg Trouser, £55 | Emma Block Heel Mules, £49

A few years back, investing in a pair of black tailored trousers would not have been on the top of my ‘must-have’ list. But with age, and a new appreciation of more streamlined and classic styles, I have to admit that I do love a good pair of classic trousers. And thanks to the rise of the androgynous trend, tailoring has never looked better than this.

I like to style mine with everything from mules and strappy sandals to leather brogues and casual kicks. Teamed with a feminine blouse, sweater or relaxed tee, this high waist, belted style, is a sure buy in my opinion – and it will last you for years to come.

The Boho Blouse

Boho Blouse

Dakota Embroidered Boho Blouse, £59 | Teela Pin Up Jean, £49 | Leopard Print Trainers, £49

I mean, everyone needs to own at least one boho blouse in their wardrobe. I have far to many than I’d like to admit, from classic white and white styles, to colourful, printed, embroidered pieces… you name it! In my opinion, boho blouses work throughout the seasons; in the winter, wear it with leather and dark denim, and in the summer, style it with some denim cut‐offs and skirts. For those in-between months, they work with everything from tailoring to skinny jeans.

It was love at first sight with this stunning red embroidered style – which pretty much epitomises the perfect boho blouse. It’s a statement piece in it’s own right, and yet so easy to style up and down.

The Classic Jumpsuit

Jumpsuit

Skylar Shirt Jumpsuit, £69 | Embroidered Trainer, £49

I am obsessed with jumpsuits (no, I mean really obsessed). If you find the right style and shape, it might just be the most flattering piece of clothing you will ever own and surprisingly versatile too! I personally prefer to keep it casual with flats and trainers but it can so easily be styled with heels, making the jumpsuit the perfect alternative to a dress for more formal occasions.

This classic navy style is one of those flattering jumpsuits which you probably won’t ever want to take off. It’s super-soft and I love the colour (navy is going to be BIG this season). It’s yet another great trans seasonal investment piece to bridge you into those spring and summer months.
