Race Day Style with Eat. Wear. Travel

From Epsom Derby to Royal Ascot, there’s nothing quite like the glamour of race day. No matter which event you’re headed to, inspire your trackside style with three of the best race day looks with blogger Elena Sandor from Eat. Wear. Travel.

Race season is one of the biggest highlights on the British social calendar, and all eyes are on the trackside fashion as well as the main event. From pastels to bold blooms, race day trends nod to all things elegant – something that is right up my street. I love making an effort for special occasions, as well as admiring the outfit choices of other ladies.

There’s no better time to splurge on a new dress for race day, however, knowing what to wear can be quite challenging. If you’re headed to Royal Ascot, the official dress code is formal, especially if you’re in the Royal Enclosure. The main rules are:

– Dresses, jumpsuits and tops must have straps
– Trousers and jumpsuits are allowed, but must be full length
– A hat, headpiece or fascinator must be worn
– Dresses are preferred to fall just above the knee or longer
– Midriffs must be covered
– Jackets and pashminas are allowed

Now the rules are in place, here are three race day looks that I’ve put together.

Look One

My first outfit features the beautifully feminine Marianne lace midi dress in light blue. I’ve styled it with a pair of mink-coloured heeled shoes and a small clutch bag in the same sleek satin – it’s a match made in heaven! I’ve also added a blush-toned feather flower fascinator for an eye-catching yet elegant finish.

Marianne Lace Dress, £169 | Margret Feather Flower Fascinator, £39 | Layton Sandal, £69 | Layton Clutch, £35

Look Two

For the second look, I’ve gone for something a little different.  Printed with florals in soft pink, blue and green, the Camille floral-print jumpsuit makes a stunning alternative to the classic race day dress. I also love its full-length, wide-leg silhouette and cold shoulder details. Complemented with an oversized navy hat with feather adornments, this show-stopping look is sure to turn a few heads at the races.

Camille Jumpsuit, £119 | Camilla Hat, £89 | Whitney Box Clutch, £35 | Whitney Strappy Sandal, £69

Look Three

The most romantic look out of all three outfits, this mint green lace dress is a perfect choice for first-time race day guests – it fits the dress code yet still makes an entrance. In a fitted silhouette with a crochet band on the waist, this mid-length design looks perfect when paired with a wide-brim hatinator for a vintage-inspired look. I’ve added nude heels to elongate the legs, plus a mint green satin clutch for a fabulous final flourish.

Agatha Dress, £99 | Elizabeth Wow Hatinator, £89 | Layton Clutch, £35 | Danni Peeptoe Sandal, £69
